Today's Google Doodle is in memory of the 19th century scientist Léon Foucault, who helped us show how the world spins.

Jean Bernard Léon Foucault was born in Paris in 1819. While Foucault received a medical education, the profession did not quite suit him. The young doctor is said to have a distaste for bloody medical dissections. But Foucault was brilliant when it came to making models, tools, and devices.
And Foucault's craftsmanship came in handy.
Foucault and a series of teachers, bosses, and partners tackled many scientific questions by building contraptions that could make hard-to-grasp phenomena more tangible. Foucault was able to measure the speed of light. He improved the daguerreotype, an early form of photography. He found a way to prove that light is a wave, not a beam of particles. He named the gyroscope, a stabilizing tool found in everything from toys to the International Space Station.

WARNING: Bring a cup, there be crotch shots ahead!

WARNING: Bring a handkerchief. Things might get a little misty in here.

Hurr durr but it has 2 percent of your daily value in some random vitamin that you can get from, like, a thousand more healthy foods. It must be good for me then!

Ahh, Fashion Week. The pinnacle, the apex, nay, the zenith of douchery in the world of art. Naturally, an event where everyone is trying their damnedest to "out-pretentious" each other makes for a premium trolling opportunity. And naturally, Jimmy Kimmel couldn't pass up such a trolling goldmine (trolldmine?). Ever heard of fashion designers like Joe Isuzu or Meadowlark Lemon? Neither have we, and neither have any of the guests at Fashion Week... but they're not about to admit that...

Why, you ask? Why the heck not? The anonymous prankster just wanders the streets at night in his Northampton neighborhood. He never does anything except just stand and wave at passing cars and pedestrians. He's become so renowned in the area in fact that he now has his own Facebook page. Maybe he just wants a friend...

An HIV/AIDS vaccine candidate developed by researchers at Oregon Health & Science University appears to have the ability to completely clear an AIDS-causing virus from the body. The promising vaccine candidate is being developed at OHSU's Vaccine and Gene Therapy Institute. It is being tested through the use of a non-human primate form of HIV, called simian immunodeficiency virus, or SIV, which causes AIDS in monkeys. Following further development, it is hoped an HIV-form of the vaccine candidate can soon be tested in humans.
